Everyone loves getting a new car – it’s such an exciting event, and there is endless enjoyment in playing with all the new features. Financing a new car can be difficult, though…cars depreciate fast, so buying new means you pay a premium over a used car. Deciding which to buy is usually quite simple – if you can afford to buy new, and do plenty of miles, a new car is definately worth it.

Once you’ve decided to change your car, you need to sell your old one. Fortunately, plenty of people buy used cars, and if it is in good condition, it’ll usually be easy to sell.

Take the car to a dealer. If you can, go to the dealer who has maintained the car. If you have always used the ‘brand’ garage, such as going to an official BMW garage for your BMW, your car is likely to be worth more. Tell them you are considering changing your car, and ask for a quote. Do not accept the quote straight away, but write it down so you don’t forget it.

Check online. You could use a car price guide, such as Parkers Price Guide, or look on websites such as Autotrader to see the average selling price. Keep in mind any alterations – things such as alloy wheels or above standard accessories will increase the price of your car, whereas bas condition and dents will reduce it.

If the car is very old, and not worth much, you might be interested in finding out the scrap value of the car. For most cars, this will be a few hundred dollars, and you can remove parts such as seats to sell as spares.

Finally, advertise! Use local messageboards as well as car forums and auction sites to show the car, and the price you want for it. Ensure this is above the dealers price – your car is worth more then this. If you can’t attract the price you want, or you have a time limit to sell the car within, consider accepting the quote from the dealer, or the scrap quote, whichever is highest.

Remember to always be honest about the condition of the car, and its maintainence – court is expensive!

If you happen to live in a tourist town and enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people, starting a tourist transportation business may be for you. You can start small and before you know it, you may be using a tool like kissinsights.com to gather customer feedback online about your services.

Getting Started

Whether you live in the Galapagos Islands or San Francisco, people are always looking for a friendly face when they travel. If you live in a small town that welcomes people from all over the world, you can start your own touring and transportation service. Start small by purchasing a mid-size vehicle that doesn’t waste too much gas. Check into your locality’s requirements about obtaining a taxi driver’s license and other permissions required for providing such a service. Once you’ve obtained the necessary permissions, you’re ready to start your tourist transportation service.

Marketing Your Transportation Service

People make plans for global travel using information on websites. Create a high-quality site that describes your services. Picking up tourists from the airport in the middle of the night, taking them to their hotels and answering their questions about the sights to see and where to eat can turn into a money-making business. Also, use kissinsights.com to gather feedback on your website about your services and any enhancements that clients would like to see to your transportation service.

Providing a service to tourists can be an engaging and exciting experience. If you enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures, running a touring and transportation service for tourists can be an ideal profession.

Many reasons exist for why businesses experience ups and downs. New competitors, better products and services and cheaper prices all have a great deal to do with why customers leave. Fortunately, tools exist such as kissinsights.com and other Internet tools, allowing you to gather information and repair a struggling business. Here are a few ways to address a struggling tourism business.

1. Determine if your tourism business struggles are isolated events. In other words, are the other tourism businesses struggling as well? If not, what about the businesses that offer the same types of service that you provide? Figure out what factors are leading to the decreased revenue.

2. Interview existing clients. Use kissinsights.com to gather the input of existing customers. Formulate questions that address the value of your service. For example, you may be offering daylong tours to visitors complete with lunch and a thorough explanation of the flora and fauna of the vacation spot. You might ask former clients and new website visitors to comment on the schedule of the tour, the lunch menu, the quality of the tour guide and so on.

3. Partner with other organizations or services. For example, if you offer guided tours, you might build a partnership with the local taxi company and ask them to mention your service each time visitors ask about the availability of tours.

4. Try something new. You might redesign your business website or change your lunch menu. Alternatively, you might encourage your tour guides to be more vivacious and entertaining during the events. When people enjoy your service, they will spread the word, leading to greater revenue.

Travelling abroad may be fun, but it’s also expensive. American travel destinations are closer, can be enjoyed for less money, and are just as or more enjoyable. No trans-Atlantic plane trips. No money changing or language barriers. For your next vacation, use your clear wireless internet to search for some amazing destinations. These are some of the top travel destinations here in America.

Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Strip attracts around thirty million visitors a year from around the world. The city is known for its numerous casinos, hotels, shopping centers and wide variety of entertainment. The city is known as the “entertainment capital of the world” for a good reason.

New York City

New York City is full of Broadway theaters, cinemas, world class eateries, shopping centers, and more landmarks than you can shake a New York style hot dog at. Which you shouldn’t do. Because that’s a good way to waste a New York style hot dog. Visitors can walk around Central Park and explore the popular Metropolitan Museum.

Washington DC

Explore the history of the United States by visiting the variety of iconic landmarks found in the National Mall and Memorial Parks. Visitors can see monuments dedicated to Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and more and the Korean and Vietnam War Memorials.

Niagara Falls

The Falls sits on the US / Canadian border and attracts over ten million visitors a year. Visitors can take boat rides near the base of the falls on one of the maid-of-the-mists boats. Niagara Falls is often a romantic getaway and is a popular honeymoon destination.

Seattle

Seattle, Washington has a lot to offer – bustling shops and restaurants in the famous Pike’s Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, sports, theaters, the Space Needle, and the Experience Music Project. Seattle’s got it all.

Grand Canyon

No list of popular American travel destinations would be complete without a nod to the Grand Canyon. Nestled in Arizona, the Grand Canyon is the most entertaining and beautiful hole in the ground you’re ever likely to come across.

Car shopping can be fun, but there are so many choices out there that it’s sometimes difficult to decide on the right one. Here are some tips for choosing your vehicle.

What’s its purpose? Many family have two vehicles: one larger vehicle for transporting the whole family and a smaller commuter car for commuting to work. The latter is especially important if someone in your family commutes a great distance five or more days a week. By deciding what the vehicle will be used for, you’ll know whether you’re looking for a minivan, compact, sedan, etc.

What features are important? There are many possible features in vehicles, so before you head out to the car lots, think about which ones are important to you. These could be whether it has a smoothe ride, the engine in the vehicle, gas mileage, number of seats, trunk size, etc.

How much does it cost? Cost is a huge factor for anyone buying a car. It doesn’t matter if you’re into UFX Markets Trading or a plumber, you don’t want to pay more than you have to and you want the most value for what you pay. For this reason, avoid buying a car brand new. Buying a vehicles that’s only a couple years old can greatly reduce your price.

Is it safe? Another important question is how safe it is. It’s true that all vehicles must have a certain level of safety in order to be sold, but there are some that have greater safety features this others. Safety is especially important if you’re planning on transporting your kids in it on a regular basis.

Buying a new car is a fun and exciting event, unless of course it is something that is an emergency. For the latter cases, many people find that they have a hard time with financing, or finding the money to put down. This is where having a backup plan comes in handy.

Creative Car Financing

Many people find that they have to be creative when it comes to finding the cash they need to get a car. Some use their investments that they have, like when using UFX Markets Trading, or another type of online or market exchange. Some have found that this made for a perfect plan B when needing a car fast.

Some of the other ways include using a co-signer, and if that is not enough, there are dealerships that offer sub prime lending on new cars. It is important to check out which brands offer this, as not all do.

Alternative Financing

Others have relied on the alternative financing options, especially if their credit is sub par, or there is not a lot of money to use for a down payment. These options include purchases from a dealer that holds that loan as the owner. This is a nice alternative because they are the ultimate decision makers on whether you will qualify.

Investigate all the options you have. This could be a great cost savings, especially is money is an issue. The upside is that the slow economy has forced companies to be more accepting of lower credit scores, so there are more options today than ever before for car financing.

The vehicles we drive can be outfitted to run on so many things. The standard is gasoline, but engines can be modified or designed for any number of other fuels. Here’s a few, including some you may not have heard about.

Air – the pistons in the engine are driven by compressed air instead of combustion. And naturally, the only emission of an engine running on air is air.

Ammonia – with minor modifications, engines, even jet engines, can run on ammonia. It’s renewable and emissions are mostly nitrogen and water vapor.

Battery / Electric – battery run electric cars are well known. Energy is stored in the battery instead of being generated via combustion or some other method.

Bioalcohol – methanol, ethanol, and biobutanol are all bioalcohols. Generally, they are alcohols derived from the fermentation of renewable biological materials like corn, grain, straw, and more.

Biodiesel – biodiesels are derived from vegetable, animal, or nut oils. With minor modifications, many diesel engines can run on vegetable oils.

Biogas – biogas refers to the gas emitted by the breakdown of biological matter in an anaerobic environment. Compressed natural gas engines can run on compressed biogas.

Charcoal – this one is limited to China and probably just the early half of the 20th century. A Chinese inventor converted a car engine to run on charcoal.

Natural gas – the combustion that drives the engine is derived from compressed natural gas.

Pedal-assisted electric hybrid – these are small engines that derive power partly from human power – peddling. Emissions probably include sweat and chafing.

Steam – the engine is run on steam under pressure produced by boiling water. Like a tiny steam boat with wheels.

Gasoline engines probably aren’t going anywhere for a long time. But the technology is around if people want to run their cars on something a bit cleaner and more exotic…like air.

America is a great place to vacation. There’s so much here to see and do – so much variety of culture, landscape, and scenery. But it’s still nice to take a long trip and vacation farther away every once in a while. Leave the yard and see the world. Here are a few of the more popular foreign travel destinations.

Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the largest coral reef ecosystems on the planet. The reef can be enjoyed from the air by plane, by boat, or underwater by scuba diving or snorkeling. There are a number of resorts and cruises to keep visitors busy.

If people want to get away from the city, they can visit Uluru or Ayers Rock. It’s a large, beautiful sandstone rock formation considered sacred by aborigines. Visitors can take tours, hike trails and climb.

Canada

The view of the Niagara Falls from the Canada side is said to be better than the view from Stateside. Visitors can enjoy that view from above on boardwalks or viewing platforms or below on one of the maid-of-the-mists boats.

The Rockies are part of a mountain chain that runs nearly the length of the Americas and the Canadian Rockies are one of the most beautiful parts. Visitors can enjoy resorts, national parks, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and, of course, amazing scenery.

Italy

Italy offers a great many vacation spots. From Rome to Venice, visitors can explore the history and beauty of the region. This is a very popular travel destination so plan ahead.

France

The cuisine, the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Louvre, the art, the museums, Notre Dame, the entertainment…Paris never disappoints.

There are so many great foreign travel destinations. The Golden Temple in India, the Pyramids in Egypt, Machu Piccu in Peru, Greece, London, Spain, and much, much more. Bring the family and explore the world. Started packing yet?

With gas prices so high and the likelihood of higher prices on the horizon, people are looking for ways to stretch their gas money and get as much out of a tank of gas as possible. While many of us probably can’t give up our petrol addiction all together, there are some things that can be done to make those tear-jerking trips to the gas station less frequent.

Watch your speed

A hefty fine shouldn’t be the only reason to observe the speed limit. As a car’s speed increases, so does the engine’s effort to maintain those speeds and fight against friction, drag, and other forces. The engine has to work harder at higher speeds and this uses more gas. Mileage decreases at higher speeds.

Remove excess weight

The more a car weighs the harder the engine has to work to move it. Avoid storing a bunch of stuff in the trunk or back or wherever. This affects smaller cars even more. An extra 100 pounds of stuff in the car can reduce mileage by around two percent. That’ll add up.

Avoid unnecessary idling

A car sitting still with the engine running gets zero miles per gallon. Idling burns gas and excessive idling burns a lot of it. Turn the engine off if the car is going to be immobile for a while. Maybe even at long stoplights if possible or road construction or stop-and-go traffic. If trying to save gas, excessive idling is just a waste.

Keep up on maintenance

A well-tuned car is a more fuel efficient car. Air and oil filters are important and should be changed regularly. Tires should be at proper inflation. Underinflated tires can increase drag and cause the engine to work harder.

Drive calmly

Aggressive driving, sudden stops and accelerations, uses more gas.

Any of these can improve fuel efficiency, but, ideally, they should all be done to boost efficiency as much as possible.

Gasoline gets a bad rap, and partly for good reason. It’s fairly reliable and still abundant and not likely to run out in the near future, but it pollutes, drilling for it can be messy, and it seems to get more and more expensive with each passing year or political hiccup in oil-producing nations. We need viable alternatives to gasoline. Here are a few.

Alcohol fuels. Ethanol, methanol, and biobutanol are all alcohol fuels. They are produced by fermenting grain, corn, straw, corn stalks or some other biomass into a combustible liquid that can be used in appropriate engines. They all burn cleaner than gas.

Electricity. Instead of getting power from an internal combustion, electric engines store power in battery. This power can come from coal burning plants (which, ideally, isn’t the cleanest option) or renewable sources like wind or solar power. Also: zero emissions.

Hydrogen. A pure hydrogen engine is an electric engine that gets it power from a chemical reaction called electrolysis. This power is stored in a special fuel cell. Such an engine has just one emission: water.

Biodiesel. Biodiesel engines can run on vegetable, animal, or even nut oils. Its energy output is comparable to gasoline and it burns cleaner with less emissions.

Biogas. Biogas is the gas given off by the breakdown of biological matter in a typically anaerobic (oxygenless) environment. Compressed biogas can take the place of compressed natural gas in natural gas engines.

Misc. Modified engines can run on liquid nitrogen, compressed air, and even ammonia. These engines are emission-less and fueled by renewable substances.

None of these alternatives can currently fill the role of gasoline. The technology doesn’t exist or it’s still in a very expensive or inefficient early stage of development or can’t feasibly be used on a large scale. With time and effort, we can wean ourselves off petroleum and onto something cleaner, cheaper, and renewable.

Cash for Clunkers – or CARS, the Car Allowance Rebate System – was, on its face, a good idea. It was meant to revitalize the auto industry, get people into newer, safer, and more fuel efficient vehicles, and get many of those exhaust belching clunkers off the road. Naturally, the program was hailed as a success by DC despite being a failure and an administrative and financial fiasco.

The program was expensive, costing three billion dollars. In the midst of an economic downturn, the government didn’t just have that kind of money on hand. They had to borrow it, increasing the nation’s debt. Individuals taking part in the program were likely giving up a paid-for car and getting a car that will take years to pay off. So, not only did CARS increase the national debt, but also the individual debt of many participants.

The program failed to stimulate the auto industry. Instead of increasing car sales, it simply concentrated sales that would have taken place later to the short time that the program lasted. This created a void in auto sales later in the year. Also, many Americans used the rebate to purchase Japanese and Korean cars, further decreasing any potential gain for American auto makers.

CARS took in over 100,000 used cars and scrapped them. This decreased the used car inventory in the country. Simple economics: decreased supply equals higher prices. People shopping for a used car post-CARS are forced to pay more for a vehicle that would have cost less pre-CARS.

Many auto dealers received no government reimbursement or were wildly under-reimbursed for the rebates they had to front to program participants. And in some cases, dealers simply gave up on seeking reimbursement due to the complex and difficult nature of the reimbursement process.

CARS just created more debt and didn’t stimulate the auto industry. It was an expensive waste of taxpayer money and an utter failure.

The car that you’ve been driving for years may seem like junk to you, but it might be someone else’s perfect solution for a small budget and urgent transportation needs. If you are a conscientious person, you will very likely be concerned with how you go about selling your car. You don’t want to sell someone a vehicle that might get them into an accident or cause expenses for which they’re unprepared. Several strategies will help you to create a win-win outcome.

Sharing All of Your Knowledge About the Car

First, share everything you know about the car with the potential buyer. If you were the first owner of the car and have kept all of the maintenance paperwork and receipts, show them to the prospective buyer. If the buyer has done his homework, he probably has a car report that tells him about any prior accidents or if the car has been driven in a flood zone. In the event of a prior accident, do share all of the details you can think of so that the buyer can make a decision that feels right for him. Additionally, any strange sounds or characteristics of the car should be explained. This will help the new owner to determine which issues should be addressed by a mechanic and which problems are a result of ordinary wear and tear.

Encourage the Potential Buyer to Do His Homework

Your main responsibility is to share as much as you know about the car and its history. Beyond that, you cannot predict what will happen when the buyer drives off with the car. To assist the buyer in his decision-making, you can encourage him to take the car to a mechanic he trusts for a full evaluation. Once the buyer makes up his mind to purchase the car from you, be sure to write out a bill of sale that indicates the terms of the sale. In it, you’ll want to include that the car is being sold “as-is” to avail you of any responsibilities should an unexpected break-down occur immediately after purchase.

If you have a long daily commute, you might be feeling that you’re spending a large chunk of your life in your car. The reality is that you truly are. Even if you’re driving only an hour each way to work, that is two hours a day and ten hours a week. Across a month’s time, that is a full 40 hours or more spent in the car. If you feel frustrated with your daily commute, the problem can become unbearable. Short of finding a job closer to home, here are some strategies for removing the frustration from your daily commute.

Make the Most of the Time Spent in Your Car

In some cases, finding a job closer to home is impossible. If this is your circumstance, consider making the most of the time you do spend in your car. Play your favorite music in the car to increase your enjoyment and relaxation. Find a radio station that discusses topics of interest so that your mind is engaged and less focused on traffic hassles. If you want to learn about a particular topic, listen to educational recordings delivered by experts. These strategies will help to enrich your commute time.

Carpooling to Decrease Your Frustration

If your frustration with your commute is strictly related to your intolerance for driving so much on a daily basis, look for alternatives. Explore the potential of carpooling with someone from your workplace. You can switch off with the driving so that you can each get a break from driving. This strategy also gives you someone to talk to and reduces your focus on the commute itself.

Finding Alternate Modes of Transportation

Another possibility is finding other modes of transportation. It may be that taking the bus to work will make for a longer commute. However, if you can avoid driving and spend the time reading, sleeping or listening to music, you might find the commute to be more tolerable.

Many reasons exist for purchasing a used car before a long distance trip. A high school graduate who is just starting college hundreds of miles away may want to buy a used car to drive to college. In other cases, a car may break down right before a planned vacation and needs to be replaced. Whatever the case may be, here are some factors to consider carefully when purchasing a used car before a long distance trip.

The Risks of Traveling with a Newly Purchased Used Car

When you drive a newly purchased used car for your long distance trip, you endure greater risks. Anytime you are not familiar with a car, you will encounter questions and potential problems. An owner who has heard a recurring noise on his car, checked it out and knows that no real risk is present can drive the car with some measure of security. When you buy a used car and do not have this history, every new sound or odd occurrence can be a cause for alarm.

Additionally, unless you know and trust the previous owner of the used car, it’s difficult to have confidence that you’ve been informed of everything there is to know about the car. Car reports do exist indicating whether the car has been in an accident. In some cases, however, accidents go unreported and you might end up with a sour deal.

Ways to Protect Yourself With a Used Car Purchase

To protect yourself with a used car purchase, do order a car report to examine if any accidents have been reported and avoid buying a car with prior accidents. Next, take the used car to a trusted mechanic for a full evaluation before purchase. If you get a good report from the mechanic, you can have greater confidence in your purchase. As an extra safety measure, be sure to drive the car locally for as long as possible, to see if any issues come up, before taking off on your long distance trip.

Traveling is a necessary part of life. It relaxes your mind and rejuvenates you. For conscientious people, travel is uplifting as long as it doesn’t come at the expense of the environment. Driving a long distance with a suitcase-filled trunk can cause fuel waste. Using disposable products on the go leads to material waste. Taking advantage of hotel services that can potentially lead to waste is yet another example of an activity that negatively impacts the environment. As someone who is concerned about the health of the environment, here are some things you can do when vacationing.

Pack Carefully for Your Trip

Paying close attention to what you pack for your trip is important. A little bit of thought and planning will help you pack a lighter suitcase. Whether you will be driving your car or taking a plane, the heavier your suitcase, the greater the impact will be on the environment. More fuel is burned when transporting heavier luggage. Research the weather report for your destination and pack only the things you will definitely need. If you will be driving a long distance, clear out the trunk of your car as much as possible. Remove heavy objects from your trunk that you will not need and bring them into the house or garage.

Limit Your Use of Disposable Items

When driving a long distance, it’s easy to stop at fast food places and use large numbers of plastic utensils, paper napkins and plastic bags. Thinking ahead can reduce waste. Pack your own utensils and dishwashing supplies to use as opportunities permit. Decline the use of plastic bags. Bring your own recyclable bags. When packing camera equipment, avoid disposable cameras. Digital cameras also reduce waste because there is no film involved.

Environmentally Friendly Hotel Practices

When you arrive at your hotel, let the management know that you will not need your sheets and towels washed daily. This will save water and energy. Also ask the hotel management if they have a central location for sharing or recycling newspapers or other materials you may have picked up along your journey.

Buying a New Car

Maybe your existing car is breaking down repeatedly and it’s time to replace it. Everyone knows that when you buy a brand new car, its value drops immediately upon driving off the dealer’s lot. If you have the money for a new car or good enough credit to buy one, this may be one consideration that prevents you from running out and making a new purchase. The obvious advantage of a new car purchase is reliability. You can also purchase a warranty that relieves you of financial obligations and provides for maintenance and repairs. Because of the reliability, many people opt for a new car purchase.

When Does Buying a Used Car Make Sense?

If you’re low on cash or consider the purchase of a brand new car a waste of money, there may be scenarios where a used car makes good sense. For one, if you can find a reliable used car that will endure many more years of driving without breaking down, you might have a perfect situation on your hands. Do your research for the best car brands and models. Read consumer reviews. Some cars really do last longer than others, so doing your research will make a big difference.

Additionally, it may be that you have a short daily commute. In this case, a reliable used car might do the job. A person with a heavy daily commute would run a used car into the ground. In your case, it may be years before you need repairs.

Driving to work day in and day out can sometimes become boring and frustrating. If you’re looking to live a less sedentary lifestyle or to change your commuting routine, here are a few options.

Take Public Transportation

In many cities and localities, public transportation is a viable alternative to driving to work. Some public transit systems may actually save you money. In addition, by taking public transportation, you are helping the environment. Anytime you decrease the number of cars on the road, you prevent unnecessary pollution and fuel consumption. Riding the bus or train can often create a more relaxing commute than struggling through heavy traffic. You can sit back and read a book or just rest your eyes.

Ride a Bicycle

Riding a bicycle to work is an option if the weather permits and your work is within a reasonable distance from your home. If you can get into a regular habit of biking to work, even just one day a week, you’ll diversify your commuting routine and get great exercise in the process.

Walk to Work

Walking to your job is also an option if you live within a few miles. A nice long walk in the mornings and evenings can help to clear your mind and provide much-needed relaxation.

Organize a Carpool

If your office is too far away from your home, consider organizing a carpool. Ask your co-workers who live near you if they want to take turns driving to work. The more people you get involved, the less driving each person has to do. Carpooling is effective for saving gas and is good for the environment.

Telecommute to Work

Another alternative to a daily commute is to telecommute. Even if you work from home only one or two days a week, you’ll get the benefit of less daily driving and more time to devote to your work and family.

Cars are absolutely necessary in today’s culture. They not only transport us from point to point, but allow us the freedom to travel on our own terms. Not to mention that sometimes it’s the only way to shop at the grocery store. It can be stressful when your car breaks down, especially these days when funds are tight for a lot of people. Here are a few steps and helpful hints to take into consideration.

1. Ask Friends and Family

It seems like there’s always that one friend or family member that knows a thing or two about cars. Don’t be afraid to pick their brain a bit before you decide to take you car into a shop. The problem could be very simple to fix, which will end up only costing you the price of the part and a little something extra for the family mechanic. Hey, even a plate of cookies could do the trick! If they can’t fix it or figure out what’s wrong, you’re not out much.

2. Make Friends With a Mechanic

Taking your car to a mechanic can be terrifying. You have to sit and wait while the fate of your car (and pocketbook) hangs in the balance. So first, ask friends and family who they recommend. Also, it never hurts to try and make friends with a mechanic. They really know what’s what when dealing with cars, so they are a huge asset when you are in desperate need of repairs.

3. Finding the Funds

There are some things that friends and family just can’t fix for free. So, if it comes down to it, there are steps that you can take to help yourself find the funds to pay for the much needed repairs. One great way is using a site like paydayone.com. There, you can apply for and receive funds quickly and painlessly.

You need to take a trip, or your want to take a trip. Maybe it is a business trip, maybe it is a family vacation. Either way, in this time of making every dime count, you want to find the most economical way to take your trip. If work is paying for the trip, saving them some money may get you noticed by the boss. If you are paying for the family vacation, who doesn’t want to save money on the trip, freeing up some more spending money for the vacation. So break out your laptops and do a little research online to save valuable time and money.

The truth is, at any given time, different forms of travel may be the most economical choice. We immediately think that by taking our own car we will save the most money. Once you factor in stopping for food, stopping to sleep for the night, as well as the toll the trip will take on the car itself, driving may not be the most economical or practical way for you to go.

Obviously there are times when you must fly. That being the case, keep an eye on the airlines. See who is offering the best deal. Believe it or not, the fare can differ quite substantially from airline to airline, depending on where you are going, what day of the week you need to travel, and what time of the year you are traveling.

Taking your car is not always the best choice for the environment. Can you take that business trip with another associate, thus car pooling, saving money for both of you and doing your part to keep the environment a little safer. If you are traveling with one or two business partners, is a bus trip in order? With the amount of cars one bus trip can keep off the road, another form of environmentally sound travel. A little diligence goes a long way in preparing your trip.

It the heart of the economic crisis, many cities are trying to figure out a way to create more revenue for the government without raising taxes. One city in California has decided to try to create revenue through a very unique and environmentally friendly way.

Riverside, California has developed the idea of placing electric car outlets throughout the city. More and more people are starting to make the switch to electric cars because these cars are environmentally friendly and reduce the world’s dependence upon fossil fuels. However, many people are not making the switch to these types of cars because of the lack of outlets to plug the electric car into, which is why many Riverside property management companies, government agencies, and other places have come up with the idea of placing electrical car outlets all over the city.

These electrical car outlets can be found anywhere from parking garages, driveways, and even out on public streets. An electric car driver would be able to pull up to the outlet, swipe a credit or debit card in the machine, and get the electricity that their car needs to run. It is believed that the city would be able to profit from the demand for such a service. It is also believed that if the city of Riverside was more electric-car friendly, then visitors from other surrounding areas would be encouraged to make the trip to Riverside and shop at the surrounding businesses. This increase in shops and revenues would help the city and businesses owners.

As more and more people start switching to electric cars, and the demand for electrical car outlets grow, more cities will start to develop the concept of creating public electrical car outlets. It’s a great way to increase revenue for the cities and businesses while encouraging people to change to environmentally friendly ways to drive.

No one starts out on a trip expecting there to be an emergency. Fortunately, there are not a huge amount of emergencies and most people will not experience a serious emergency in the entire time they drive a car or travel in any way. However, if an emergency should occur, it is most important to be prepared. Having a knowledge of what to do in an emergency may never be used, but if an emergency occurs, it will be the most important thing you ever learned.

There are minor emergencies, flat tires, running out of gas, someone getting sick and needing to pull over. These emergencies will be more likely to occur than the more serious ones. Knowing how to change a tire or pump your own gas becomes essential in these types of emergencies, and you will be so happy you took the time to learn either skill. Make sure your spare tire is okay before going on a long trip, thereby avoiding the added expense of having to be towed somewhere to get the tire fixed. Making sure your gas gauge is working properly can avoid the problem of running out of gas.

Having an emergency kit in your car is a valuable friend in an emergency. It may sit in the back of your car or in your trunk for years, but when it is needed, it will be the best investment you ever made. Maybe you need a flare to warn other cars of a breakdown, or a patch for a quick fix.

Even though you may never, ever need it, you should be prepared for a serious emergency, a car run off the road, someone getting into your car and taking over or your car being abandoned on a side road. Being prepared for anything will make your emergency less frightening and hopefully you will get through it with the least amount of damage.

The family is ready. The time off from your job has been taken. All the new clothes are bought. The suitcases are packed. This is the trip you have been waiting for, that relaxing time with your family that we all wait for, even if it only comes once a year. We plan forever. Where will we go? What do we want to see? How do we want to spend that precious “week of freedom” from all the things we have to do all year? You ask the kids where they want to vacation. You and your spouse consider all the possibilities. You check your budget to make sure you can afford the type of vacation you would like to take.

In all of your planning, have you taken the time to consider the type of travel that is best for the environment as well? You save plastic bags, put out the glass and plastic for recycling, bundle the papers and save the can tabs. You try to carpool when you can, and you purchase products with the recycle symbol on them to insure that you are doing your part to ensure the future of our planet. Good for you.

You can carry that same diligence to your vacation. Plan a trip that involves a destination that is just as concerned as you are about going green. There are plenty of them out there. Make sure your type of transportation is the most environmentally safe. If you are taking your car, make sure that it is working properly and has the right fluids in it that will make the car the safest for the environment. A vacation taking your hybrid car is just as fun as one burning the planet’s fuel at an alarming rate.

If everyone vacationed this way, just think of the positive effect this would have on the planet for our children and generations to come.

SUVs were quite the rage back when gasoline costs were under $2. Truthfully, they’re still pretty popular with young families, but the question remains: what are the most suitable ones for any given family? There’s almost no comparison with any brand. Each SUV has its own perks and quirks, so make your decision on a well-informed basis, and consult a dealer. Here are three of some of the most popular SUVs for families, though, for your review.

The Nissan Rogue

Aimed more for younger families, this sleek vehicle has a driver-oriented cockpit which allows for better visibility, hence better safety. All the safety features you’d expect from any other vehicle are also available through the Rogue. Another benefit is its variety of packages to go with it.

The Toyota RAV4

Designed for larger families, it’s the only SUV with optional third row seating, an amazing feat for SUVs as it is. Complete with 4-wheel drive for optimal strength and ability, it also sports a sleek sports car style that would suit the automobile buff in the best way.

The Honda CR-V

Touted for the all-American traveling family, this vehicle sports probably one of the most impressive gas mileages of any car and also has a rear lift gate along with a side-hinged rear door for optimal storage ability. Its trademarked rear-mounted spare tire is a staple of traveling, especially when hitting that flat tire!

Each vehicle is unique in its own right and caters to a unique type of family. Knowing yourself and how your family operates is essential to getting the right SUV. It’s also important to get insurance quotes from such places as Allstate, State Farm, or Farmer’s when dealing with a full family vehicle. The SUV, a staple of American tradition. Do the research necessary to find out what SUV is best for you and enjoy the ride!

Taking a long trip, especially one across this great country of ours takes a lot of planning. While the anticipation of a great sight seeing adventure builds, the preparation for such a trip is an immense responsibility.

First there is the transportation. Is it more economical to fly, take a bus, take a train, or pile into the car? While all types of land travel will give you the opportunity to see the country while you are traveling, which one is the most economical? There is the added expense of food and lodging, which leaves you much less of a choice with the bus or the train, wherever they stop is where you have to stay and eat.

If you choose to travel by car, you can plan your route, keeping in mind that you want to take the most economical route. You can get on line and find out how much food and hotels cost in all areas along your trip route. Taking some snacks and drinks along, maybe even packing sandwiches or cold food can save you quite a bit along the way. You may not need to stop three times a day just to eat. You may not need a four star hotel to stay in for the evening. If you want to just get some sleep and get an early start, there are many economical choices. It is probably a good idea to find out, before you go, how much gas you are going to need as well as the gas prices for each state through which you will be traveling. Of course, keeping a supply of things you will need for the car, washer fluid, oil, and various other fluids, will prevent you from having to stop and pay for them along the way.

A little preparation will help you enjoy your trip more, and maybe have a little extra spending money when you get there.

You have decided to leave the car home this time. This trip will be by train. Maybe it was a price issue, maybe it was an accommodation issue, maybe you just want to see the country by railway. Whatever the reason you have chosen to travel by train, there are ways to make this form of travel fit into your budget. You take your luggage on with you, thereby avoiding extra baggage charges, as airlines are now charging per bag, and the fees can add up. You certainly don’t have the expense of the gas, and with the current gas prices it can actually be more cost effective to travel by means other than an automobile. If it is a long trip, you can choose to have a bunk on the train, or you can just sleep in your seat. The choice is yours. Sleeping on the train saves the expense of stopping when you are tired and having to get a hotel room for the night, possibly in a town where you have no idea where to get the best deal.

If you are traveling with children, you can always pack a bag of snacks. There is a dining car on long train trips, and you will want to go there for dinner, but during the day if the kids just need something to hold them over, you can have a variety of snacks ready, saving you the expense of the dining car.

Each trip and each family needs to decide what is the best way for them. It is just a really good idea to check out each form of travel and what would be best for you and your family for this particular trip. Sometimes it makes sense to take the car, sometimes it may be necessary to fly, but sometimes the good old American railways can take you where you need to go.

Money can buy you a lot of things. Sometimes money can buy you things that the normal person wouldn’t dream of owning. So, when you are a self-made millionaire not yet forty, then you have the luxury of buying whatever you want, no matter how outrageous it seems. For Mark Ecko, the founder of the ultra cool and hip clothing company, Ecko Unlimited, that comes in the form of one of the most exotic armored cars on the planet.

The eccentric and always fashionable Ecko bought himself a Gurkha Armored Car. This car is not just an ordinary vehicle. It’s got the cache of a Hummer, but far more protection and unique features that make it one of the hottest cars on the market (not that there are a lot of stores that you can get it from).

The car has a five cylinder Diesel engine that can hold up to 63 liters of diesel gas. It comes equipped with a five speed transmission, making it a car that is not just durable, but fun to drive. In order to make sure that the ride is as smooth as it is safe, the car comes equipped with telescopic shock absorbers and it’s own anti-roll bar. The short version is that this car can’t be harmed and can’t put you, the driver, in harm’s way.

Of course a car like this comes with some other interior features as well. It’s got air conditioning, and all five sides of the car are armor plated to ensure that the people in the car have maximum protection. The battery in the car is protected by armor, and it seats up to six fully protected people.

Ecko could be doing the car for safety, or he could have chosen it because there is nothing more stylish than a car that no one else has. Either way, driving with him just got a whole lot safer.

When traveling, whether you are going down the street or thousands of miles away, you should be prepared. Emergencies, while infrequent, do happen and can happen at any time to anyone. Being prepared for all types of emergencies will ease your mind as you make plans for your trip.

You can have an emergency kit, “first aid for your car” if you will. Some car emergencies can easily be fixed by a handyman with the right equipment. Someone on the trip should know how to change a tire. If you don’t aware about that process need not worry, because we can easily learn from some short term health care online classes. Someone on the trip should also know how to check the oil and other fluids in the car, as well as knowing how to replenish them if needed. Your first aid kit should also contain a flashlight, flares, water, as well as a white flag if you need to leave your car abandoned.

It probably is not a bad idea to have available a personal first aid kit as well. Even a fender bender or a slip off the road can cause someone to have a minor cut or scrape that needs attending. You can stay focused on your trip if you don’t have to stop just to bandage a cut.

Make sure you have emergency numbers at your fingertips. We can all use 9-1-1 if needed, but if you know your destination, you can have the phone numbers for local help available if needed. Also, if your destination is with family members, keep them abreast of where you are on your trip. Let them know when they should be expecting you, and notify them if you should get held up, or are not be able to get there exactly as planned. They can keep an eye out for you as well, thus being keenly aware if you do not show as expected.

Now you can enjoy your trip as much as everyone else, knowing that you have prepared well.

Since the first hybrid car, a car running on both gas and electricity, hit the US market on May 27, 2006, we have had a fascination and a curiosity as to whether this car is actually better for the environment. Being that the hybrid is so new to the market, and there are only a few automobile manufacturers who have made hybrid cars, it is an expensive investment. Is the investment worth it? Will the hybrid car really help the environment, is it truly a “green” car?

There are a few factors as to why the hybrid car is good for the environment. A long known problem with a solely gasoline-powered car is obviously the air pollution of the emissions. Cars are not going away, our highways are packed with gas guzzling, pollution emitting automobiles. Cars that run on gas emit large amounts of chemical fumes, polluting the air. The hybrid car has fewer and cleaner emissions, as part of the time the car runs on electricity. Reduction in smoke and chemical fumes on a large scale has been said to improve the plight of global warming.

As far as noise pollution is concerned, the hybrid is a much quieter ride, being virtually silent running when switched over to running on electricity. The hybrid car engines do not produce excessive noise when turned over or accelerated. The hybrid car also outperforms the gasoline-powered cars by 20 to 30 percent, making it much more fuel efficient.

While these steps are small on one car, they are huge on a large scale. If everyone considered the planet that we are leaving to our children and grandchildren being completely overrun by pollution, maybe we would think to do something about it now, while we still have a chance to contribute to a cleaner, safer world. Is the hybrid the right choice for you?

We all need to get away once in a while. There is a large percentage of people in this country today who feel they cannot afford to take a vacation. Our pockets are stretched to their capacity just trying to feed our families and keep our houses. We are pinching pennies at every turn and there is nothing extra at the end of the month. More than ever, people need to get away from the daily grind of their jobs and just sit back and take a breather.

A lot of families today are doing the day trip vacations. Take a day off here and there and visit a local, or not too far away, amusement park or attraction. This type of vacation is a little less expensive in the fact that you only have to save up for one day, not a whole week of hotel bills and restaurant checks. The price of entrance into a particular attraction may seem exorbitant, but if you are just splurging for the day, it can be done.

There are plenty of things to do for next to no money at all. A day at the park with the kids is, for the most part, free. You can pack a lunch and small children think a day at the park is about the best thing anyone can do. For older children, a museum or two is always an education as well as a vacation. If it is just the adults, you can pick and choose where you would like to go. You can take the car or join one of the many bus trips available throughout most cities.

Whatever decision you make, the important part is being together, putting down the telephone and spending some quality time with family. Just getting away from the grind, even if it is for just one day, can rejuvenate your soul.

When purchasing a new or used car, you take many things into consideration. What exactly are you looking for? Purchasing a car, whether new or used, is a huge investment. You want to make sure that your purchase is exactly what you want and has all the necessary things you need in a car. What kind of car do you want? Is it an SUV, a sedan, a luxury model, or are you open to all models? Maybe the car company itself is the most important factor, you will only buy American made or one company has always had your family’s business. Whatever choice you make, you count on the car company to make sure the automobile you will be driving for years to come is safe. How do we know it is safe?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issues the minimum federal motor vehicle safety standards and regulations that the car manufacturers must comply with. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent group that conducts crash tests and issues safety ratings approved by insurance companies. Crash tests are performed for front impact, side impact, rear impact. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is the only body that tests rollover type accidents. These tests are done with different weights of passengers, sitting in different seats within the car, using different passenger or driver “dummies” that represent the weight of an adult or a child. The crashes are simulated and the damage is observed.

Different cars are tested from different manufacturers, and are given ratings from poor to excellent. The “star” rating is then given based on these ratings. These ratings are across the board for car manufacturers and insurance companies all using the same system, thus regulating that cars have a minimum overall rating to insure the safety of its passengers. It is comforting to know that these regulations will keep us safer on the road. And just like taking the time to meet with your CPA, do your taxes and file now rather than late, it is a smart move to make sure you check out the safety reports and buy a safe vehicle.

Making the decision on how you should travel is almost as important as deciding the where and the when. Once you have decided where you are going, you then have the decision to make of how to get you there. Many factors come into play at this point. Do you need to get there in a short amount of time, as in a business trip planned with very little time to spare? The only option may be air travel, depending on how far you have to go and how soon you have to be there. If it is a business trip, the company you work for may have their own set way of traveling, thus taking the decision out of your hands.

However, when you are making the decisions for, perhaps a family vacation, you can decide how you want to travel. Is the expense the most important factor? If it is, you may just want to load up the car and head on out to the open road. Obviously if you are traveling abroad you are limited in the form of travel available to you. Even if you do decide to go by boat, you will need to use some other form of travel to get you to the boat. This may just be the way to travel if you want your family to experience it.

Some people have a fear of flying, or going by boat. These factors will play an important role in choosing your form of transportation. It may be just as economical to fly as it is to drive, if you are going a far distance. When you take into consideration the expense of gas in the car, having to stop to eat and paying for hotels, an airline ticket might just be more economical.

Do your research before you go and you will feel better knowing you made the most informed decision for you and your family.

When you think of traveling a long distance, for example, across this great country of ours, the first form of travel that comes to mind is the airplane. Air travel is considered safe and probably the fastest way to get from point A to point B. It is not the most economical way to travel, however if you have chosen to travel by air you have probably already considered the cost of air fare in your vacation budget.

Coast to coast travel is very popular. The west coast offers many attractions that people from the east coats do not see on a regular basis. The east coast has the same appeal. From New York to Hollywood, coast to coast travel can be done several ways. You can get on an airplane in New York and be in California in roughly five to six hours. Short and sweet, considering how long it takes for other forms of travel.

However, the other forms of travel available, car, train, or bus, each have their own unique way to get from coast to coast. While these other three forms of transportation will definitely take longer, at least a full day even if you do not stop, this type of travel offers ways to vacation along the way. You can plan your route with specific stops at landmarks throughout our country, or perhaps a certain state or attraction friends or family have told you about and you always wanted to see. If you take your car, you have the freedom of planning every mile of your trip. The bus or train may have the route you want to take, but will they allow you to stop and see the sights? These are things you can plan in advance. Looking into this ahead of time, you can make sure that the way your travel is as much your decision as the destination you have chosen.

It is time to take that all important vacation with the family. You have decided where you want to go, your destination. How you get there is just as important as the destination, and may be an integral part of the vacation itself.

For example, if you decide to arrive at your destination by train, there are several ways to make this happen. There are express trains, which will take you directly to your vacation destination, no stops. If you are traveling a good distance this can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a day or more, riding the rails. Trains have dining cars, where you can a snack or even take in a full meal if you are traveling a far distance. Some trains have a place for you to sleep, if you are going to be traveling for ten or more hours, and you can choose to sleep in your seat if you would like. Some trains even have cars that will carry your car. The auto train is very popular if you would like to have transportation locally once you arrive at your destination. You rent a space on the train for your car, and once you arrive you claim your car as you would your luggage at an airport.

You can also plan a train trip with multiple stops. Researching the railways and which trains will be stopping and where, can be a vacation within itself. There are trains that stop in every state, sometimes in several places within one state, so you can check out the local sites and attractions. There is a lot to see in this great country of ours. Many of us just want to get to our destination and choose the fastest way possible. Fortunately for us, there are cultures and sights all across the country, and a stop at any one of them will make for a memorable vacation.

Taking the bus. Often considered the poor man’s choice for travel, going by bus can be both economical and good for Mother Earth. Bus travel often does not bring to mind the most sanitary way to travel. The truth is the bus you hop on to go short distances, to take to work, or use to take a trip into the city might not be the nicest accommodations you have seen.

However, planning a trip with a coach bus, one that is comfortable, has its own bathroom, and offers the passenger chances to see the countryside, can be quite an enjoyable trip. You certainly don’t have to do the driving. For some main drivers in the house this is a vacation itself. You also do not have to worry about the wear and tear on your car, or emergencies popping up that you have to figure out how to fix. A bus trip can be planned with stops at interesting sights along the way, making for an even more enjoyable vacation.

In this day and age we all must be keenly aware of the damage that pollution is doing to our environment. When we think of taking the bus, we often think of a lot of pollution from the emissions from a bus. However, if you break it down, a bus has the same emissions as roughly four cars. Yet a bus filled to capacity is carrying enough people to take up to 50 cars off the road, thus actually cutting down on the pollution that is being emitted into our air. When we were first made aware of the environmental nightmare known as pollution, one of the first solutions was car pooling. Taking into consideration cutting down on the noise pollution of 50 cars, as well as freeing up some traffic congestion, why not take a vacation with a group of other people who are also riding the bus?

Vacation time, that time when we pack up the family, pack up the car and head to that destination where we do not have to worry about our jobs or work for a week or more. We all look forward to that precious time of the year. We save up all year for the trip. The family gets together to decide where they would like to vacation this year. The pros and cons are weighed and a destination is chosen. We will be driving this year. While other forms of transportation may be available, the decision has been made to take the family car this time.

As the main driver in the family, it is your responsibility to make sure the car is safe and ready for the trip. A good check up at the local garage is a good idea. Let your mechanic know you are about to embark on a long trip and you need to be sure the family is safe and you arrive at your destination with little to no issues. Your mechanic will check the fluids in your car and replenish them as needed. He will also check all the important things, like brakes and the motor, to make sure your car is running in tip top shape.

If you are taking a long trip, you will need to keep an eye on the tires. Before leaving make sure your tire tread is not worn, and that you have inflated the tires to their proper air pressure. Check frequently, maybe each time you stop for gas, to make sure that the tires have maintained their proper air pressure. If your tires are losing pressure, you need to have this checked out. Long trips can wear on your tires, and it is essential to a safe trip that the tires can handle the road. Making sure this one thing is taken care of can make your trip easier.

Air travel has increased exponentially in recent years. More and more people are taking advantage of flying. Flying has never been more economical. In a fragile economy, such as the one we are currently in, airlines are fighting for your business. There are all kinds of discounts being offered, buy one get one flights and other savings to attract customers back to the airways.

There is a large percentage of our population who are afraid to fly. They just don’t trust that the large airplane is safe in the air. Statistically air travel is much safer than land travel. This is sometimes not enough to convince someone to place their bags on the belt and present their ticket.

While many adults have chosen not to fly, the first time on an airplane for a child can be as scary an experience as it is exciting. If you have chosen to fly, and your child is apprehensive, there are things you can do to ease the anxiety. Take a small child to the airport. Maybe they have been to the airport before and just glancing at the huge airplane has made them a little frightened. Show them all the different planes and take your time to walk around the airport so that they can see how many people have chosen to travel by plane. If you know someone who is a pilot, maybe they can talk to them about their many adventures in the sky.

The most important thing to assure your child is that you will be right there with them. If mommy and daddy have chosen this way to travel, well then it must be okay. We carry a lot of weight as parents. Dismissing their fears will only make a child more resistant to getting on the plane, however addressing their fears and doing everything to calm them could open up their world to the wonders of air travel.

Whether your are running to the local market for milk, or taking a long drive across your state, there is the possibility that your car can break down. Being prepared for this type of emergency can help in the event that it does happen. You should always keep an emergency kit in your car in case you break down and need help. If you run out of gas, you will need to call and get someone to help if you are close to home, or you may need to leave your car in search of gas. Avoid this one, make sure you have enough gas to get you where you need to go before you leave. It is a simple step that will save you a lot of grief later.

However, you have no control over the car actually stopping to run. If engine trouble is the cause of your breakdown, most of us are not adept at fixing or even diagnosing the problem. Your car has stalled and you are stuck. Remember the flashers. They are there for a reason. It is not a light show for when you are bored or a way to let your kids know you have come to pick them up. The four way flashers are a universal symbol of a car in trouble. They let other drivers on the road know to be careful when approaching and to slow down as the exact trouble is not known to all drivers on the road.

The four way flashers will also help the rescue vehicle or tow truck driver find you. We do not always know exactly where we are. You may have to tell the tow truck driver that the car is broken down between two exits on a major highway. Be as specific as you can when giving them your location, and tell them to look for the four way flashers.

It is an age old question. Is land travel safer than air travel? There are statistics that show that the likelihood of an accident is 200 times greater in an automobile than on an airplane. Most people we know have been in at least one car accident. Can we say the same thing about air travel? However, in practicality the chances of walking away from a car accident are substantially greater than that of surviving a plane crash.

We can look to the government and their safety requirements for both forms of travel. Both are stringent and carefully followed. There are strict guidelines for safety features for both.

Is it fair to compare the statistics when there are exponentially more cars on the road than planes in the air? It is more difficult, and requires more school and education to get a pilot’s license as opposed to a driver’s license. There are very few sixteen year old people out there flying planes, but they are driving cars every day of the week. It is much easier to drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, then be a pilot and get away with flying under the influence of drugs or alcohol. However, it does happen.

We can say that the burden of safety lies with the individual. A pilot goes to work knowing that someone has checked out the airplane he is about to fly. Someone before him has made sure the safety checks are all in place and that the plane is ready and safe. As a driver, it is our own responsibility to ensure the safety of our vehicle and that of our passengers. Make sure your car is kept in excellent running condition, all fluids are checked, and you know what to do in case of an emergency. Don’t get into your car if you have been drinking or doing drugs. Do your part to keep our roadways safe.

We spend a significant part of our day in our cars. We drive to work, we drive the kids to school. We drive home from work, we stop at the store. We pick up the kids, maybe a few friends, back to home. Out again at night for whatever activity, and the list goes on. For the most part, the travel part runs smoothly. What about when it does not? Do you know what to do in the event of a road emergency?

You should keep a few “emergency” fixes in your car at all times. Have a gallon of water handy, as well as a new piece of hose. Overheating of engines is a problem that is not that uncommon and with a clamp or a new piece of hose and a fresh gallon of water, you can get the car running again, at least to get you to the nearest service station. Learning to change a flat tire is a great skill to have. You may never need it, but you will be so happy you learned it, if you find yourself in that situation. Again, you can avoid the expense of a tow truck with a little knowledge.

However, if you have an emergency that requires a tow truck, be careful. Unfortunately a tow truck pulling up is not necessarily as cut and dry, especially if you are traveling alone. Make sure when you call the towing station that you know who is coming to help you. Get an identification number, a name or make sure you tell them you want to see identification. Give them your exact location as best you know it, and maybe tell them some fact that they will have to tell you when they get there. This way you will know that the man with the tow truck is the person you called for. Keeping yourself safe is just as important as fixing the car.

Traveling from A to B inexpensively often involves doing a bit of research before securing travel plans. Creating an itinerary that is economical can increase the quality of the trip. Here are some tips on how best to travel long distances inexpensively.

Start by writing down each day of the trip. Include travel details to the destination and while in the destination city. Choosing proper hotel amenities, airline travel, or rental car is easy online.

Reading reviews of recent travelers experiences can keep the price point in perspective. It is wise to spend extra money each night to be in a hotel where service, safety, and cleanliness is important to the staff. If there is a limited budget for hotel stays, consider staying at camp grands or state parks. Many times there are nice cabins or RVs’ that can be rented overnight. If there is no budget for a hotel consider sleeping briefly at rest areas with a security guard.

Many hotels offer free breakfast. It is easy to order discount gift certificates online for restaurants that are along the travel route. Like survey software, hotel online software is also a creative way to get the job done online.

Write out daily food budget. Fruit is an inexpensive way to eat breakfast while on the road. Eating a large early lunch in a nice restaurant is good way to stretch a daily meal budget. Lunch times often start as early as eleven am.

Stopping for dinner right when lunch time ends can help to take advantage of lunch prices twice in one day. This may be as late as four o’clock in some restaurants. Left overs can be stored in a cooler and warmed up in a hotel or gas station microwave.

If a personal vehicle, RV, or rented car is being used to drive long distances plan stops in safe areas full of people. Use these tips to travel long distances inexpensively.

Business and individuals can benefit from knowing which automobiles are the most reliable while on the road. Here are the top ways to deal with emergencies while traveling.

Finding the best vehicle often takes into account several considerations. Records of safety tests often include how automobiles perform under stress. Sample tests may include crash tests and life expectancy due to safety devices within the vehicle. Performance at different speed limits and in controlled accidents can help to decide which automobile will be the best for business or personal use.

There are many ways to deal with emergencies before they happen. The first line of defense is to have the safest car that is available. Like buying JR Dunn designer jewelry online, researching a car is easy and fast on the Internet. Some things that occur will never be expected. No one can really ever predict how the actions of others will affect them. Most accidents or emergencies happen when someone is not paying attention.

Trying to recover from an accident with extensive property damage without insurance can be devastating. Obtaining the proper insurances can help to protect against financial loss. Travelers insurance is one strategy to help pay for emergency costs when traveling for personal or business reasons.

Do everything possible to obtain a safe vehicle, purchase auto insurance, and use travel insurance when necessary. When emergencies happen these items can be tools for working through the present problem.

If a rental car company goes out of business, travel insurance can help with out of pocket costs for replacement travel arrangements. Planning ahead of time for things outside of personal controls can save a great deal of time and money.

Examples of problems could be a car accident, where the car is inoperable and there is no bodily injury. The insurance company may provide towing coverage and rental car reimbursement. This emergency is inconvenient, but manageable.

Use these ways to deal with emergencies for personal or business travel situations.

I have been thinking a lot about traveling lately, but I don’t know how I feel about getting on a jet and crossing an ocean to explore another country. What I have been thinking about, then, is to visit a country like Canada where I can explore new food, new people and new cultures without having to cross into terribly unfamiliar lands. So, it seems like maybe Canada would be a safe bet for me.

Canada has always interested me, but I never knew much about it until I started researching what I would do if I traveled to Canada. I needed an idea of places I would like to travel to and sighs I wanted to see. Plus, as someone who loves food, I had to make a list of restaurants that I wanted to visit. Luckily, while doing this research, I stumbled upon Canada 411. This online phonebook had more than just contact information. It also had reviews. This was a great resource to help me make out my list of things to do and see in Canada.

You do not have to travel far to get the most out of a vacation. You can drive into Canada with the right ID or passport, and spend an afternoon there, a weekend or longer depending on what your interests are. Canada has plenty of interesting things for you to check out, including museums and attractions, restaurants, theater, parks and so much more. You simply have to be willing to explore in order to take in everything that this interesting and expansive country has to offer you. Keep in mind that each province is unique, and so each visit to Canada can be wholly distinct depending on where you go and what you set out to achieve there. And if you ever visit the Canada 411 website yourself, who knows, you might just see a review that I wrote.

Seven out ten working individuals say that they would love to go away, but money is what seems to be holding them back. How can you get around this dilemma? You can still take that vacation you want and not drain the bank.

Do your research weeks in advance! Think about what you like to do when relaxing and do searches on the internet for example. There are wonderful all-inclusive package deals that can be found on various websites at discount rate such as Priceline or Travelocity. Timing is everything, so be ready for these opportunities when they occur.

Depending on the time of year, you can discuss with a travel agent about booking affordable trips. Most of the best deals can be obtained to islands on non peak seasons such as Cancun, Puerto Rico, and even Hawaii. Certain times of the year can be touristy like around Spring Brake time, usually from March thru mid April. Check with an agent to work out the best time to travel to your destination.

If you have time on yours hands before your next vacation, think about starting a Travel Club. This is a wonderful way to get to where you want to go and have others help with the bill. Round up about ten or more people that desire to travel to the same area. Work out a time and date that you all can leave on. Start to search airlines and hotels in the destination that you are looking to travel to. Most times they will have discounts for large parties because they want your business! When you to an agreement with the others, split the bill evenly among everyone and book the trip. Often times with a down payment, you can make monthly payments leading up to a month before your trip. This method takes time usually about a year in advance. Remember, where there’s a will there’s away so plan carefully and enjoy!

Many people are interested in the current state of their wallet, and cutting costs is on the top of their mind. This is all about cutting expenses, from household items to services paid for, including auto insurance and home owners insurance. For those who have had the same policy for a long time, it is hard to consider switching. Some people are content with things as they are, making it difficult for these individuals to make the move and ask questions about other services. This, however, could save a person a pretty penny if they are willing to do the research and find cheaper services.

An example of coverage that may be overly expensive, and might not be thought of when considering a budget, is classic car insurance. For those who are lucky enough to enjoy a classic car, they likely have it insured right along with their regular automobile and home. This is typically the smartest way to buy insurance as the companies are often able to give a discount for combined coverage. However, it never hurts to find out exactly what is being paid for each of the coverage types under the one policy. Breaking down where the money is going may show that the savings has not been as great as hoped or believed.

In addition to understand what is being paid for, putting the policy out there for additional quotes can be beneficial. If the insurance has been with the same carrier for an extended period of time, there may be discounts that are not being applied. In addition, other companies may be able to beat the current policy price. If nothing else, by questioning insurance companies, it may open up conversation with the current carrier about potential discounts and price reductions that may never have been presented or expressed previously.

When commuting locally or long distances, we often focus on where we are going and how to get there. Do you ever stop to think how the way we travel effects our environment? Let’s look at some differences that might make you think twice about the way you travel.

The number one way most of us travel is by car. Almost 90 million Americans live in cites were the air quality is not meet by Federal standards. Like Los Angels for example, where smog alerts are broadcasted on an average day. This is due to the heating of the atmosphere in the morning by the sun. This causes the carbon monoxide and dioxide in the air to heat up and cause a gray film over the city! If you breathe these chemicals day in and day out eventually it affects people’s health, causing cancer and other diseases.

If you travel by plane, carbon monoxide being pumped in the air isn’t the only problem. Other factors play a roll in pollution such as noise. Statistic show that people who are subject to plane noise, are most likely to suffer from inter ear damage, then people who work in industrial field. The noise capacity of two jet engines is ten times damaging then a single jackhammer running for thirty seconds!

Many are turning to riding the train theses day because surveys have shown it is more environment friendly. Train riding doesn’t put damaging chemicals in the air. Round trip tickets cost less the filling your gas tank for a week! It also helps with your physical health, not being stressed out by driving in traffic jams. You are able to relax and enjoy the sights! Others take it a step further by riding the train and using their bikes to get to where they need to go. It might be all about getting where we need to go faster, but our environment pays a price.

In the past few months, airlines have been running more tests on the Airbus A380. In Europe alone, just about all A380’s planes have to be tested due to the recent emergency landings by airlines, including Qantas and Lufthansa.

With the mandatory inspections that have been demanded by European Agency, it seems that they have found problems in the engines leaking small amounts of oil. Emergency landings had to take place because of smoke being seen coming from the engine of the plane. For this matter 15 of Qantas planes were grounded and 12 from Lufthansa were put on hold.

Because of this, more then ten billion dollars we lost with lack of planes and concerns that troubled travelers. Although alternatives were made by travelers it sill made it harder not have the convenience of flying to destinations, make time the new issue.

The President of Qantas announced that the problem is being resolved as soon as possible! Although there were close calls on the A380 incidents, safety is the priority. The problem can not be ignored, nor can a bandage be placed over the problem.

In lieu of the situations that has surfaced with the A380’s, other commercial airlines are running test to see if all if up to par with their planes. With the holiday season in full swing, the number one factor is getting passengers to and from their destinations safely.

Therefore, there is no need to panic or stop flying all together. Remember that the friendly skies are always friendly! Officials are working hard to make sure that all is well in the flight industry. If for any reason you still have reservations about this matter, you can always look up information via the internet and find out test results and the latest studies before you take that next flight.

Aside from airfare, hotels can be very costly depending on where you travel. In most cases, this expense keeps many from traveling. Even if airfare and hotel are included in a package deal, it still can add up. That’s why many look into investing into timeshares. What is it and how does it save you money?

Timeshares are properties that can be used on, “as needed basis” for those who are interested in getting property in a certain destination. These properties can be rented on a weekly, monthly, or can be paid yearly! The timeshares can come in forms of an apartment, condominiums, or even homes! This somewhat works as if you are in the market to buy or rent. You simply put up a down payment and over time make the monthly payments to maintain the property.

The beauty of the timeshare program is that when you are ready to use your shared property, you set the time to travel and reserve the property for the time you need. Usually, this is done for a few days up to several weeks. The time is determined based on when others who are sharing the property need it.

When you are ready to go on your getaway, all you have to pay for is your airfare and your ready to go! Another way that money can be saved is most establishments have full kitchens. So when traveling, you can purchase your own food and make meals in your timeshare. Going out to restaurants and paying for hotel accommodations can add up. This way you save thousands on your trip over all!

Another plus with timeshares is that you can trade your property for another in a different location! This will help you go to other destinations and not have to worry about where you are staying! So if you want to travel cheaper, look into getting a timeshare to expand your destination horizons!

There are many people who think that the best way to get from Point A to Point B is by car. If you can’t afford a plane, or don’t like the feeling of flying, then a plane is not for you. However, you might be surprised to know that it isn’t always the best way to go. There are trains and buses that can bring you to your destination and they might be worth looking into. If you haven’t even considered it before, here are some reasons you might want to consider taking a bus or train instead of traveling by air.

The financial aspect of this decision cannot be ignored. No matter what you spend on a ticket, it won’t be anything in comparison to how much you’ll spend if you decide to drive. Gas alone is expensive. This doesn’t include the oil changes that you will need to pay for. While it might not seem like the most comfortable way to get to your destination, it’s certainly a cheaper option.

Of course, you have to look at the safety aspect as well. There are a number of drivers who are at risk with prolonged exposure to driving. They can fall asleep at the wheel, putting the people in their car, as well as your auto insurance New York, at risk. When you go by bus or a train, there is no worry about that. Trained drivers are ready to get you to your destination. You can sleep to your hearts content.

Riding on a train and letting someone else do all the work could be a time to catch up on reading, listening to your favorite album, or simply resting. These are things you can’t do on the open road. It might not beat a car for you, but it’s certainly worth looking into.

No one ever expects to get into an accident when traveling on the road, but the harsh reality is they do happen! A known fact that 90% of all traffic accidents happen five to ten minutes from home! In rush hour traffic, one out of ten cars gets into a fender bender between the early morning rush and late afternoon. When this happens to you, what should you do in the situation!

First of all before this happens consider it when buying a car, using sites like truecar.com can help you narrow down an affordable car that has done well in safety crash tests. Knowing that you have a reliable vehicle that can offer some form of protection on the road, in a situation like this, can help ease your mind.

Rule #1- Don’t panic. Mistakes are made and we all make them from time to time. Try not to get yourself too emotional about the accident. Yes accidents are very scary, but stay cool to make sure you have a level head.

Rule #2- If you are hit or you hit someone. Stay in your vehicle to check yourself. Take the time to analyze what has happen and make sure you are not hurt. When you feel that you are in the position to move, go to the other car to make sure the driver and/or everyone else is okay.

Rule #3- If both parties are fine, call 911 right away. Calling the police is the next step so that reports of the accident can be made. Give them the location and the direction you were traveling in. Once this is done, the authorities show up in a matter of minutes. The paramedics show up as well to help anyone who might have been hurt. Remember, while this is happening, neither party should move their car until they are instructed to.

Rule #4- After you make the call to the police, call your insurance carrier. Report the accident and give them as much detail as possible. This way they are able to start the process for your clam. In addition, copies of all paperwork from the event will need to be provided.

Car crashes can be a pain, but doing these steps will hopefully help deal with the matter!

In the days of horse and buggy and old fashioned wagons, people used to hitch hike to get where they needed. In face, some of the early western American settlers hitched rides on unknown wagons to get across country. Today, hitch hiking in most states is illegal but there are now other more modern ways for you to travel across country without spending an arm and a leg.

Traveling across country can be relatively inexpensive if you do some planning ahead of time. Here are some great tips that you can use to get across country without breaking your piggy bank.

Rideshare. Rideshare is very similar to carpooling only it’s the cross country version. Many people are looking for people to share a ride with so that expenses can be split in half. You might have to make some changes such as staying shorter or longer at a location or even heading a bit out of the way to pick the person up but overall it can be well worth the money to share a ride.

Consider Renting a Hybrid. If you are considering taking a long road trip and have an inefficient car it might be worth it to rent a hybrid car. Most rental car agencies have hybrid cars as a rental option. Depending upon where you are headed and how much driving you will be doing you could be saving a lot of gas money by renting this style of car.

Gas Perks. There are a lot of grocery stores and gas stations that offer fuel perks. When you go to fill up on the pump you can save anywhere from .10 to $3 on a gallon of gas. This might not seem like it would save a lot of money but it could add up over time.

The media focuses so much on how bad traveling by car is and how much it effects the environment that it doesn’t really talk about how the other forms of traveling effect the environment. Traveling by train and plane all have impacts on the environment. Here is a look at some of the environmental impacts traveling by train can have on the planet Earth.

Carbon Dioxide Emitted. Trains emit a lot of carbon dioxide into the air. There have been a lot of studies that showed that too much carbon dioxide can lead to higher levels of smog, pollution and depletion of the ozone layer.

Fuel Efficiency. A train’s fuel efficiency really varies depending on the style of the train and how many people are riding on the train. A train full of passengers offers a high fuel efficiency than a train that is less than half full. While some models of trains consume less fossil fuels or run on more energy efficient means than other styles.

Fossil Fuels Consumed. Trains might offer more fuel efficiency but they also consume large amounts of coal and fossil fuels that cannot be renewed. The amount of fossil fuels that are being consumed is having a negative effect on the environment and the globe.

Ecosystem Destruction. Trains and railway systems all require that land be cleared away and room made for this transportation system. When land is cleared away small ecosystems are destroyed or forced to relocate.

Noise Pollution. Noise pollution is every bit of a concern as air pollution or light pollution. Trains provide a high level of noise pollution and are known for their high levels of noise that they cause. This can destroy hearing in people and animals that surround the railways as well as disturb the surrounding environments by causing loud noises.

Whether it is a loved one falling ill across the country or an unexpected death there are various reasons that a person would have to purchase airfare with little or no notice. Emergency airfare can be very pricey with rates being double what you would have paid a week before, but there are some ways that you can avoid paying the super hiked up rates at the airport.

Here are some ways that you can get the best deals on last minute airfare.

Check Websites. Sometimes travel websites such as Orbitz or Expedia offer last minute deals on the airfare. There are even some websites reserved exclusively for last minute air travel. These websites can save you a lot depending upon the airline that you travel as buying directly from the airline can raise the rates on last minute airfares. However, sometimes the sites do not have availability for your location and this can prevent you from booking the flight.

Emergency Fares From Airlines. Most airlines offer some type of discount or reduced rate on the full price of a ticket. This is still relatively expensive and can cost you an arm and a leg. At the moment almost every airline will require some proof of the emergency. This can come in the form of a death certificate, doctor’s note or funeral home location. If you are considering this type of discount it is a good idea to also note that many airlines will require that you pay the full fare and will offer you a refund or voucher for the rest.

You can never fully prepare for the unexpected events that life throws at you. However, by knowing some of the tricks to getting great deals on emergency airfare it can help you be prepared for when the unexpected does happen.

Planes have long been used as a way for travelers to get from one location to the other. In recent years they have started to become larger and more advanced than the previous models. However, as the airplanes begin to expand and grow they also become less eco-friendly. When an airplane is compared to the train and car emissions it falls somewhere in between a single passenger car and a train full of passengers.

There are many ways that airplane travel effects the environment. Here is an overview of some of the ways that this style of traveling can impact the environment.

Climate Change. Planes emit a lot of carbon dioxide into the air. There are also various particles and pollution that comes from the emissions caused by the burning of diesel fuel. These emissions and carbon dioxide have been linked by scientists to global warming and the changes in the globe’s climate.

Air Pollution. There are many particles inside the smoke of the plane. These particles are released into the air and over pollute the air with harmful chemicals and particles.

Noise Pollution. Air traffic has increased almost 70% in the past 30 years. This has lead to an increased in noise pollution due to the large amount of planes in the air. There has also been major expansions at the local airports which leads to more noise and higher levels of noise pollution.

Burning of Fossil Fuels. All planes run on diesel fuel. While the planes today are more fuel efficient than they were 20 or 30 years ago, it still requires a large amount of this fuel to make a plane run. As diesel fuel is a non-renewable resource this can have adverse effects on the environment. While there are many eco-friendly fuel options being tested none have been approved for use in airplanes yet.
